Currently, the majority of EV charging occurs at residential and workplace locations. In the near future, however, the percentage of public charging infrastructure—at public parking spaces, stations, and highways—will skyrocket as home charging needs must be accompanied by charging stations along the route to support EV charging on the go. Therefore, due to being the most EV mature region at present, Europe is expected to see major growth in public charging infrastructure over the years.
