New Zealand renewable electricity generator and retailer Meridian Energy has announced it will build a nationwide EV charging network to help reduce range anxiety and give drivers confidence in their decision to go electric. The multi-million dollar scheme would see more than 200 chargers installed nation-wide over the next three years. The rollout would use slower-charging AC chargers only, due to the lower impact these would have on the electricity networks and to their suitability to shopping malls, retail and business parks, and community facilities. These chargers would complement the already existing charging infrastructure of around 280 DC charging stations and 300+ AC charging stations nation-wide. Most of the DC chargers have power capacities of 25 and 50 kilowatts. Link to the news: https://thedriven.io/2021/02/25/meridian-energy-to-build-ev-charging-network-across-new-zealand/
